the village farm

The mission of the ASYV farm is to provide food for our students while also serving an education tool to teach our students agricultural skills. The Village farm produces a large variety of fruits and vegetables providing for approximately 35% of the Village’s daily food needs. The farm hosts thousands of fruit trees including mango, banana, avocado, citrus, and coffee.

Our flock of more than 200 hens are also producing on average 160 eggs per day as a reliable source of protein, in addition to the farm-produced peanuts and beans. As it grows, our chicken business willnot only provide protein for the kids, but generate income for the Village. Our cows are also producing milk and we have recently embarked on a beekeeping venture for honey production in partnership with Keren Kayemet LeIsrael.

The farm allows us to reduce food costs while producing healthy foodand earning income from the sale of farm products outside the Village. All of our farm projects provide hands on, educational opportunities in farm work, methodology and management for our kids.
