A once-in-a-lifetime trip to Rwanda and the agahozo-Shalom youth village combining community, history, culture, and connection.

Program Highlights & Trip Itinerary:

  • Cultural excursions (including visits to the Nyamirambo Women's Center and the Kigali Genocide Memorial).

  • Guided safari and overnight in Akagera National Park including day and evening game drives

  • Engaging with students and staff in the Village and taking part in daily Village life, including Village Time talent show and Family Time

  • Option to add on a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Volcanoes National Park to experience Rwanda’s famous mountain gorillas or golden monkeys (not included)

Dates exclude travel to and from Rwanda. You are requested to arrive on November 1, and official programming will conclude on the afternoon of November 8.

Rates and what is included:

This all-inclusive trip costs $4,700 for single occupancy per person/$4,060 for double occupancy per person, including:

  • Activities listed here
  • Meals
  • Luxury accommodations in Kigali (three nights), at Akagera National Park (one night) and at ASYV (three nights)
  • All ground transportation within Rwanda. (Transportation from the airport to the hotel will be provided by ASYV for those arriving on November 1. Transportation from Kigali to the airport will be provided by ASYV for those departing Rwanda on November 8.)
  • Guidance and support from experienced trip leaders, who manage the logistics and programming

ASYV relies on the generosity of those who travel to the Village to help us keep our gates open. Your participant fee supports the Village and the students who call ASYV their home.

Pricing excludes:

  • Vaccinations/prophylaxis—ASYV highly encourages all participants to get the following vaccinations/prophylaxis. You are advised to consult with a physician or travel clinic regarding any other vaccines that are recommended ahead of your travel: Hepatitis A, Malaria prophylaxis prescribed, Tetanus, Typhoid
  • Roundtrip airfare
  • Visa for entry to Rwanda
  • Incidentals and upgrades for hotel stays
  • Trip add-ons including primate trekking
  • The purchase of any alcoholic beverages, snacks, and bottled water (bottled water will be supplied on excursions and filtered water is always available in the Village)
  • Souvenirs

  • If you would like to book additional excursions before or after the trip program, you are invited to contact Jill Elias (jill@asyv.org) to connect you with a tour company for booking. Note: permits are required for gorilla and golden monkey trekking and are limited per day. Additionally, hotels book quickly so, we recommend contacting us as early as possible.

+ How to Register - Please read below

  1. To register, please complete the registration form found here no later than August 1, 2026. As part of the registration process, all visitors must agree to ASYV’s Visitor Policy & Agreement, which includes our Child Protection Policy. The agreement can be found here.
  2. Upon completion of your registration form, a member of the ASYV team will be in touch to confirm your registration and to share pre-trip information, as well as an invoice for the trip payment. Pre-trip information will include recommended vaccines, information for obtaining a tourist visa (which can be purchased in the airport upon arrival or online in advance), and other details for the stay. Note: The minimum participants needed to run the trip is 6 people. Please do not book flights until you receive confirmation to do so from ASYV staff.
  3. A 50% non-refundable deposit for the trip is due by August 1, 2026. The remaining balance is due no later than September 17, 2026. An invoice will follow your registration. No refunds will be made within 30 days of the trip.
  4. The deadline to book travel for this trip is September 17, 2026. Participants should share flight information with visitors@asyv.org as soon as possible (no later than September 17, 2026).

A pre-trip call will be arranged for early October ahead of the trip.

Cancellation Policy:

A 50% non-refundable deposit is due by August 1, 2026. The remaining balance is due by September 17, 2026 and is non-refundable after October 1, 2026.

ASYV reserves the right to delay or cancel the Trip if determined by ASYV in its reasonable discretion that cancellation is necessary for the safety, security, or health of participants by notifying participants in writing (which can include email notification) at any time prior to scheduled departure. ASYV will use commercially reasonable efforts tonotify participants as early as possible prior to departure. In the event of such cancellation, ASYV shall provide a refund to participants with the exception of the 50% non-refundable deposit. Cancellation of any activities arranged directly by the participants shall not be the responsibility of ASYV.
